If you hold a specialist educational qualification, you may be eligible to receive 10 additional points under the General Skilled Migration (GSM) points test, giving your visa application a competitive edge.

What Qualifies as a Specialist Educational Qualification?

To claim these points, you must have completed either:

  • A Master’s degree by research (not by coursework), or
  • A Doctoral degree (PhD)

This qualification must have been:

  • Awarded by an Australian educational institution, and
  • Completed at least two academic years of study in Australia

Eligible Fields of Study
