From 1 January 2025, significant changes will affect how onshore Student visa applications are processed in Australia. These changes aim to streamline the process and bring it in line with offshore application requirements.

What’s Changing?

Onshore applicants will need to include a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) at the time of application. Letters of Offer from educational institutions will no longer be accepted. Applications without a CoE will be deemed invalid and cannot be processed. Additionally, applicants without valid submissions will not qualify for a Bridging visa.

Who Is Affected?

  • All onshore applicants lodging Student visa applications on or after 1 January 2025.

  • Existing applications submitted before this date using a Letter of Offer remain unaffected.

Exceptions to the Rule

The change does not impact Foreign Affairs, Defence, or secondary exchange students who can still provide alternative evidence of enrollment.
